Throughout the years, the UMKC Kangaroo logo was typically illustrated as cartoonish and playful but the 1987 version saw a more stylized and less cartoonish figure that was labeled the "Flyin' Roo" design. This "Flyin' Roo" design would continue to be used throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s with only a few slight variations.
